Techniques

Our clinic in East Greenwich employs a wide range of proven techniques for each individual case. Below, you’ll find a brief explanation of the popular chiropractic techniques to treat pain that we use at our practices.

The Gonstead Technique, developed by Dr. Clarence Gonstead, has evolved into a system of skeletal analysis and means of adjusting the spinal column and extremities. The combination produces precise adjustment.

Drop Table
This technique makes use of specialized drop-piece mechanisms in the table to assist the adjustment. Individual cushions or "drop pieces" located along the table support each area of the spine until the thrust is given. Then, each drop-piece gently gives way, reducing the pressure needed to move a specific spinal segment.

Additional Advancements and Therapies
Our office has invested in highly specialized chiropractic tables that have electrical and pneumatic motorization for the comfort and assistance of our patients.  Each table has diffferent features that suit the treatment of different conditions.  The tables are highlighted by motorized movement to enable both the physician and patient to achieve perfect procedural technique and optimal treatment outcome.  Our clinic also offers many physical therapy modalities, including ultrasound and electrical muscle stimulation in each private treatment suite to complement our other techniques.

Trigger Point
The primary purpose of Trigger Point Therapy is to reduce the pain that results from overworked or hypersensitive muscles. Trigger points are identified by gently pressing on the skin, sensing the texture of the underlying muscle.  Chiropractic Physicians by their specialized training have the most highly developed ability in spinal examination and palpation making them the ideal physician to analyze and treat musculoskeletal conditions.  A trigger point is typically the size of a pea and comprised of lactic acid, a normal byproduct of muscular activity, which can become trapped in the muscular tissue from physical, chemical or emotional stress.
